Introductory Pattern Making
Learn to draft patterns that fit you — and build the sewing skills to bring them to life. Intro classes cover core drafting techniques and garment construction, so you’ll finish with more than just paper.
Advanced Pattern Making
For experienced pattern makers ready to specialise, our advanced courses cover Lingerie, Swimwear, Draping, Eveningwear and Tailoring. You’ll take your skills further by working with complex shapes, challenging fabrics and detailed construction techniques.
Adobe Illustrator | Fashion Design
This professional workshop teaches you how to use Adobe Illustrator to create digital Tech Pack drawings and visual specifications — essential tools for communicating your garment designs to manufacturers. Recommended for HSC Textiles students and those enrolled in Start Your Own Label.

Skill Levels
All skill levels are welcome at CAFA, with sewing classes aimed at beginners, intermediate and advanced sewers. Beginners will receive individual instruction in our Dressmaking classes for new and intermediate students. You’ll learn to sew or enhance your skills using a commercial pattern. If you’d prefer to learn how to draft and pattern as well as the sewing techniques to complete your garment, our Pattern Making and Garment Construction courses are a better choice.
Advanced sewers will learn custom, machine and fused methods to achieve a Perfectly Tailored Jacket or master advanced Eveningwear pattern making and sewing techniques, whilst students of all skill levels can be learn couture embroidery techniques from award-winning industry expert Eranga Bandaranayake.
HSC Textiles & Design students considering a career in fashion design may also undertake a short course to gain basic sewing skills and experience to assist them to produce their Major Work.
