Learn to Sew Stretch & Dance Costumes
Stretch and dance costumes require a careful balance of fit, flexibility, and performance. In this course, you’ll learn how to design, alter block patterns, sew, and embellish dance costumes that move with the body, using stretch fabrics and specialised construction techniques suited to dance and performance wear.
What You’ll Learn
This course builds on existing sewing skills and focuses on the specialised techniques required for stretch and dance costume construction.
Instruction covers professional methods for sewing and finishing stretch garments, along with embellishment techniques appropriate for dance and performance costumes. Emphasis is placed on fit, durability, comfort, and clean finishes, enabling students to produce costumes that are both functional and expressive.
Suitable for confident makers with sewing experience.
What to Expect
Our courses are open to all skill levels and held in our Pymble studio on Sydney’s North Shore. We offer morning, afternoon, full-day, and evening options, running Monday through Saturday.
Classes run once weekly for 3–3.5 hours across an 11-week term. Courses are typically priced in the $900–$1,000 range, depending on the number of hours.
