HSC Textiles & Design Mentoring Classes

Textiles & Design is one of the most demanding HSC subjects, largely due to the scale and complexity of the Major Work. Our mentoring classes provide focused, practical support to help students plan, develop and execute their work with confidence — guided by teachers who understand the HSC syllabus and assessment criteria.

CAFA students consistently achieve outstanding results, with work featured in the Distinguished Achievers list (including first in State), the Texstyle Exhibition and the SHAPE Exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum.

What to Expect

HSC mentoring classes are delivered in small groups, with individual guidance tailored to each student’s Major Work and stage of study. Sessions focus on steady progress, technical refinement and practical problem-solving in a supportive studio environment.

Classes run weekly for 3–3.5 hours across an 11-week term. Courses are typically priced in the $900–$1,000 range, depending on the number of hours.

Students and parents are welcome to discuss class options and timing phone or email or by arranging a studio visit before enrolling.

When Is the Best Time to Start?

Our answer is simple: the earlier, the better.

While many students enrol in Year 10, we regularly work with students from Year 8 onwards. Starting earlier allows time to build technical skills, confidence and creative independence before HSC pressure sets in.

Early preparation leads to stronger Major Works and a more confident HSC experience.
