Skill Level: Beginner

This course teaches the basic skills used in dressmaking. If you want to learn to sew, this is the perfect introductory class for you.

Once you've mastered the building blocks, you can tackle a basic garment in the beginner's dressmaking class.

This class is open to everyone: home sewers, hobbyists and professionals. It's also available as part of the Professional Program or HSC Textiles Program.

This course explores the sewing building blocks used in dressmaking. Each week, new techniques will be demonstrated and you'll then complete a sample.

  • Inseam pockets
  • Welt pockets
  • Jean pockets
  • Application of bias binding
  • Button holes
  • Inserting sleeves
  • Cuffs and plaquets.
